Week 2 saw Nick Bassil and Steve Miller get the first yellow cards of the season - naughty boys. Dawn
written by gazza @ Nuts in Hemel on June 03, 2008
Its look like middle miller won the battle of the Virgins last night beating his big brother !
Lucky dawn weren't there as there would have been plenty of yellow cards dished out.
written by Driller on June 04, 2008
HAHAHA Steve got a yellow card?!?! What did he do?!
written by Dawn on June 06, 2008
Week 4 saw rookie Paul Spence take 6 points against Shaun bowling a 692 series. Shaun got out of his pram and got not just a yellow card but also a red.
Carl Morely didnt bother to turn up and unless he has a bloody good reason why not, he will be presented with a red card when he steps on the lanes.
Dancing Queen couldnt maintain top stop, he lost 8-0 to Matt Giles.
Watch out for the first newsletter of the season next week. If any of my players have read this update today, then you can have a freebie swear week next time.
Dawn
written by Ad on June 10, 2008
That is so unfair your giving away freebie's on the swearing Dawn. Not happy I never got any of those
At least Andy has taken over my role as chief stich up on the lanes....! Gd lad.
Everyone better watch out when im back for my SPECIAL Guest apperance.
Dawn do i get to swear if i play for free when i come back for my guest apperance
written by Dawn on June 12, 2008
Ad, that depends whether you buy me a drink or not.
You are missed you know, the banter is not quite so good yet and as you know we have a lot of new players, who are a bit more serious, shame.
written by Ad on June 12, 2008
Im sure i could bribe you with a drink for a free nite of swearing..! haha
Will be a bit of a shock to the serious bowlers when i get on the lanes with them then.
Should be a giggle...!
written by Dawn on June 13, 2008
I look forward to seeing you then, and to see what comments are made, lol.
written by Dawn on June 27, 2008
It had to come, but it took 6 weeks into the season to happen, yes the first 300, and along with it a £100 prize on the spot, donated by Iceman. Who was it, Mr. gentleman Julian (Cawthorne), together with an 816 series. I think he was in shock. He couldnt believe this ball, which he said was the best he had ever purchased, a Wrath Dead Flush which he did it with. A lonely ball, an import from America, polished and put on the shelf at Alex Hamilton's Power Play Pro Shop in Nuneaton. Along came Julian who saw it, asked what it did, it played long said Alex, and thats what he wanted for Dunstable, so a deal with cut and thats how this lonely ball bowled a 300. Congratulations Julian, it couldnt have been given to a nicer person.
written by Dawn on June 27, 2008
A surprise visit by the one and only Ad, I let him have a practice and he didnt buy me a bloody drink. Will make sure you do at the counties in September though Ad, as im the Team Manager, and what I say goes, lol.
written by Julian Cawthorne on June 27, 2008
Thanks for those kind words Dawn very much appreciated. I will buy you a drink next week!
Cheers for cash Iceman! In honesty I needed it in order to get home having left my wallet at home. Very unlike me to forget where I put stuff!! Cheers again mate
Thanks to everyone for the support and congratulations. Much appreciated!! Loving the league and everyone involved. Looking forward to next week already.
Oh ...Bash we are bowling together Wednesday any chance of a Bad Ass Badge me ol mucker. I good for the money

Blue WKD please!!!!
Basher, your very quick to add your comments, I only did the results and league table a few hours ago.
written by Dawn on June 27, 2008
Basher, Iceman put up £300, £100 for the first three 300's, not just one. So still two up for grabs, who will it be, Matt G, Andy G or Shaun!!!
written by Ad on July 01, 2008
I tried to get you some more dosh for your pot with my red and yellow cards but you wouldnt let me get anyone. Will hopefully have better luck nxt time...!lol
Might get you at drink at the county practise depends if im in the team or not.
Well done Julian on your awesome set and 300 on Thursday was gd to watch well worth the travel back to Dunny from Southampton. And i got to txt Ice that he had lost his first of many £100.
written by iceman on July 03, 2008
well done julian, could not have happened to a nicer guy. so i will have to eat cat food for a month...thats life
written by Dawn on July 04, 2008
Jon Langridge and Chris Gibsons match ended in a draw and Jon was too stingy to pay the £1 pot otherwise he would have got high series 731. Andy G and Tyrone also ended in a draw and Andy didnt take it very well, defacing the score sheet by replacing Tyrones name with 'tosspot'.
The players got away with blue murder last night because they knew I wasnt well and I also had to turn down an alcoholic drink because of it. (thanks for the coke Julian)
written by Dawn on July 04, 2008
Matt Miller only turned up for the last game so Jeff Taylor took all the points. Matt G. won again and tops the table, followed closely behind by Julian who also won 8-0 bowling 657. Watch out for John McGuire who had high game of the night 289, he is swiftly moving up the table after playing most of his catch up games now.
Warning - I will be back to my usual self next week, so behave - lol. x
written by Gibbo on July 06, 2008
Dawn, did i win the pot for high series this week??
I assumed as i lost total pins in my match i had no chance of high set.
written by Dawn on July 07, 2008
Yes u did Chris, only as I said above, Jon was too stingy to pay his £1, otherwise he would have done. I have it in an envelope for you for Thursday.
written by griff on July 09, 2008
Spoke to Johnnyboy at the weekend and he's as shocked as anyone at his swift leap up the league! As long as he keeps rolling his crap sets in the Wednesday league for us I'm sure he'll continue to perform well in the Scratch Singles! lol
written by Dawn on July 11, 2008
Week 9 - Matt G still has top spot after a brilliant match against Jon Langridge, which ended in a draw 731 - 693. Chris G. bowled a 721 to hold on to second place on pinfall. Another ding dong match was Lewis and Julian, which again ended in a draw 638 - 653. Mark Bloor had a 6-2 win over Matt Miller bowling 697.
Other good series came from Andy G 711, John McGuire 682, Steve Miller 663 and Carl Morley 656 (who got his first yellow card of the season.
written by Dawn on July 11, 2008
Sorry Iceman, have to tell everyone that I beat you at pool last night. I am a dark horse as you know from my table tennis. I wonder how I would get on at poker. Anyway you can challenge me again next week.
written by griff on July 11, 2008
McGuire does it again... 680 in the scratch league on a Thursday after being closer to 480 on Wednesday night for me!! HAHAHA
written by ice ice baby on July 11, 2008

written by Dawn on July 14, 2008
League update - John McGuire goes top after playing all his make up matches, with 60 points, 2nd is Matt G with 56 points and Chris Gibson and Julian on 54.
Who is Griff!!!! who keeps making comments about poor old John Mc. lol
written by andy on July 14, 2008
The mighty Griff is our team captian in the Wednesday four's league.
Griff mate, I think it's time to drop the dead weight from the team.
written by L! on July 15, 2008
yeahh notice how jonny's top...BECAUSE HE'S PLAYING CATCHUPS ON FRESH, we get the bottom of the barrell us loyal weekly turnups!!
something needs to be done!
HAHA
just messing...jealousy thats all
written by Dawn on July 17, 2008
I wish people would put their name so I know who writes some of these comments. Im sure who ever wrote the one above would like to play on lanes on the other side like John has had to in some of his catch ups. Im not impressed with that comment!!!!!
written by andy on July 17, 2008
L', if it's who I think it is. It's not the lanes which is your problem, it's staying on your feet you should be worrying about. He he !-)
written by tyrone on July 18, 2008
yeah that was lewis the ginger magician chatting about the lanes he was only joshing though.
written by Dawn on July 26, 2008
Lots of high scores this week. Star man was Matt Miller bowling 287, 245, 234, 766 series and took the pot. Carl Morley silenced Iceman bowling 633 for an 8-0 win.
Jeff Taylor beat leader Julian 6-2. Chris Gibson bowled 718 series to now head the table.
Terence Parrett and Michael Smith had a ding dong match, both bowling 278 in the first game, but Terence finished with a 700 series just to edge out Michael 5-3.
Shaun also showed the others to take notice, bowling 749.
written by Dawn on July 26, 2008
Mick Coate is still improving bowling with his other hand, beating Kevin Minnis 6-2. Wins also for 'grandad' Frank Mitchell 6-2. Peter True and Mark Bloor both had 6-2 wins.
A few were on for a 300 again and I thought I would have to get the cash out, but alas it didnt happen. Still £200 up for grabs chaps, so come on I wont another 300.
written by Dawn on August 01, 2008
Week 12 - A shock 8-0 defeat for Chris Gibson against Jeff Taylor drops him from first place to 5th. Julian remains top despite winning in an underpar performance.
Match of the day goes to Shaun Ellingham and Steve Miller, Shaun winning all the points bowling 766 to 696 and moves up to 3rd.
High game of the night went to Andy Giles 278.
written by Dawn on August 01, 2008
A reminder that I will be issuing BTBA renewal forms next week. Fees have gone up to £21.00 if you join through a league. I will need the money by 21st August.
If you join individually then it is £25.00 and Gold Card fees are £40.00.
Finally, as I wont see you Andy for a few weeks, I hope you and Sarah have a lovely wedding day. I will be thinking of you.
written by Bash on August 01, 2008

Now will people finally start believing me !
Have a good day Shaggy and Sarah !
written by Dawn on August 08, 2008
Week 13 - Congratulations to Steve Miller on bowling the leagues second 300 game. He also bowled a 823 which was his highest series. This series is the second highest of our history.
There is still one more £100 prize up for grabs.
There are alot of outstanding matches and I urge you all to start playing them before the 4 week deadline. Thanks.
written by Gibbo on August 08, 2008
Awesome set by Steve Miller last night, unlucky not to shoot back to back perfect games. Left a solid 10-pin in the tenth of game 3 after about 250 in-a-row!!
The Iceman shelled out another £100 but gave me a hiding 6-2 to soften the blow. My worse league set for 4 years didn't help me!
written by Julian Cawthorne on August 08, 2008
Well bowled Steve !!! You sh*t bag
Dawn tell me I didn't miss a game last night?! Peter True and I played our match on Saturday and I picked up a £25 parking ticket for my trouble. I was 100% sure Peter said it was this week and therefore didn't have reason to look at the league sheet or turn up. Having looked at the table and lane draw etc I fear I may of missed a match which would be a massive blow
written by Dawn on August 09, 2008
No you didnt miss a match. You should have played Peter True, although he didnt tell me that he was on holiday, but I will let him off. Please let me have the score sheet next week. You missed a good night of bowling.
written by Miller the Driller on August 09, 2008
After listening to his IBPSIA certified pro shop operator....Steve trusted me in selecting him a new ball!! I went for a Storm Rapid Fire Pearl mainly due to him loving the Storm balls and wanting something a little snappier than his Thunderstruck solid. First night out in league he shot 300/768. A few low 700s later he shoots 290 279 211 770, 4 days later he shot 244 300 279 823!! All with the Rapid Fire pearl. Great bowling Steve from everyone at The London Pro Shop!!!
If anyone wants one....let me know ;')!!!!
Big up Tyrone Duke for putting £300 down for 300's
written by Bash on August 10, 2008
That's the most shameless plug I have ever seen !
I hope you charged the hund pump the full price for his ball !

After a great performance last night, Matt Giles has daylight at the top of the table. He just missed out on a 300, I so wanted him to get it. Andy was rubbing his hands thinking he was going to get 50 quid. Matt bowled a 299, and a series of 771.
Im on holiday next week so I suppose you all will be swearing like hell.
I managed at last to give Ice his first yellow card this week
written by tyrooone on September 07, 2008
buy yourself a cornetto with that quid! happy holidays
written by Dawn on September 14, 2008
I see you all bowled well while I was on holiday. Match of the day had to go to Matt Nash 225 242 223 (690) against Matt Giles 235 214 223 (672), 5-3 win to Mr. Nash. Mr. G. moves 15 points clear at the top.
Another high scoring game was Julian 215 237 225 (677) against Matt Miller 223 266 250 (739), with Matt taking all the points.
High game of the night went to Terence with a 279 and high series went to Andy 752.

HELP GUYS!!
I need two players to join our league. With Carl Morley doing a disappearing act (which has now been referred to the B.T.B.A.) and Kevin Minnis going to Uni.
If anyone knows of any players that want to join then please let me know. They will be required to start at the beginning of the second round which is in November.
written by Dawn on September 22, 2008
Thanks for putting that notice on Basher. Oh by the way it was nice to meet you at last at the Counties.
written by Castro on September 25, 2008
Carl Morley snapped his knee a few weeks ago, he was in the bowl on crutches.
written by Dawn on September 26, 2008
That was two months ago he has been bowling in other leagues since.!!!!!!!!!!!!!
written by Castro on September 27, 2008
Times flies, i don't know that. Sorry.
written by Dawn on October 09, 2008
Matt 'The Magnificent' Giles bowled two back to back 300 games. Took the league and house record 846. Also took the last £100 that was up for grabs.
This was a shame for Jon Langridge who also bowled a 300 but was 3 minutes after Matts first one, so just missed out on that last £100.
My congratulations to you both.
Lets hope our league record goes this season for the most 300's in a season.
written by Julez on October 10, 2008
Well done G!! I have seen many 300's but never 2 back to back! Great to watch ..... i just thought ......were your hands clean!? lol
Well bowled John also. Again I have seen many 300's but 3 in one night!! What a treat.
Good work!
written by WSW on October 10, 2008
As always, it proves just how much of a legend G is. No matter how much he is struggling at the time or going through a rough patch, you can never count him out and he comes up trumps.
Top bowling fella...great to see you back to form.
written by Mark B on October 23, 2008
I've created a league for PBA Fantasy Bowling - it's called Dunstable Bowlers, no password. Just search for it on the PBA Fantasy website.
written by Gibbo on November 02, 2008
Still not sure why i wasn't allowed to enter the pot this week. I can understand it on re-arranged games but i was just playing my normal fixture on the night and lanes it should have been played on. What's the reason?
And yes, i am moaning as i would have won high game.
written by Fingers on November 04, 2008
Quit your bitching Gibbo!
What did you hit out of interest?
written by Gibbo on November 06, 2008
Only 258, but a pot's a pot. I could be about £2.50-£4 richer right now.
Should be dining out this lunch time on an M&S prawn and egg roll, pressed apple juice and a chocolate chip cookie! But not now!! Greggs again for me
written by Fingers on November 06, 2008
Aye i looked up the scores, only a pin in it.
If i had known i would have gone for the remaining pins in the tenth
Remember to try harder tonight and btw i purchased a cajun chicken wrap and some thai sweet chilli sensations with a yorkie to follow. Excellent pottage.
written by Dawn on November 13, 2008
Chris, it has always been a rule of our league that if you are playing a walkover then you cant enter the pot.
If you want to propose a change in the rule for next season then you are very welcome to do so.
written by Dawn on November 19, 2008
I have one new bowler to start the second round but am still in need of another one. The second round starts 27th November. If anyone know of a player who wishes to join the league please let me know asap. Thank you.

The challenge is on to knock Matt G off his perch.
Good luck all.

Congratulations to Josh Goldswain on bowling his first sanctioned 300 in our league.
