National Council Announcement - 30th January 2012
Following yesterday's meeting of the National Council, I am pleased to announce that agreement has been reached on a number of key decisions which will help shape the future of the BTBA.
Financial difficulties brought about by a declining membership have meant that we must change our structure and the way we operate. Through Area Secretary and Team England Seminars, and wider consultation with members, we have reviewed most aspects of the organisation.
We have examined different ways of streamlining our business activities and ensuring we are getting best value. Many good ideas and options have come from members themselves and we are now at the point where we need to drive these forward.
The first change is a welcome appointment to the National Council. With immediate effect, Mr Matt Miller will Chair an executive committee with the specific task of producing a robust and sustainable recovery programme. This committee will report back to the National Council on 28th February with a schedule of change and a timetable for implementation.
Although we are now in a fast track phase of setting the strategic direction of the BTBA, I must reassure you that we will continue to give our fullest care and attention to every detail and implication of outcomes. Getting it right is our overriding priority.
For this reason, I will spare the detail now, but expect to provide a far more comprehensive report on progress at the end of February.
I will close by saying how appreciative I am for the fantastic support so many members have given. I have been impressed by the really positive and helpful ideas you have presented and the willingness you have shown in giving so freely of your time.
Yours in bowling,
Mrs Pat White
Chairman BTBA
